Location: 217 Egan Drive in the heart of downtown Valdez Special Exhibit: Remembering Old Valdez on the waterfront at 436 S Hazelet (This exhibit is about the original site of the City of Valdez before the 1964 earthquake).

Drive 6.8 miles on a dirt road and hike the last short distance. Valdez has a number of hiking trails, some easy, some difficult. There is a short "Dock Trail" which will take you out by the water where you could easily spot some of the varied and abundant marine life in Valdez Harbor. Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center - It sits on 26 acres in northeast Anchorage. Directions from Glenn Highway: exit at Muldoon Road NORTH, off the Glenn Highway. Be sure to look for the brown directional signs - marks the one mile long winding driveway through the forest, before arriving at the Welcome House. Open May 10 through mid-September. Attend the Fur Rendezvous at Anchorage.  A very old Alaskan tradition that includes World Championship Sled Dog Racing, Fur Auction, Miners and Trappers Ball, Native Alaskan Art and Craft displays and many other great activities and events. Occurs in late February and March each year, right before the famous Iditarod dog sled race.

Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival - You've got to see this one to believe it! It is the major fundraiser for the Talkeetna Historical Society and includes foot races, parade, free softball tournament, free music, entertainment in the park and lots of other happenings... including the Moose Dropping raffle! Occurs the second weekend in July in downtown Talkeetna Directions: Travel 14 miles on the Talkeetna Spur Road from Mile 98.7 of the Parks Highway, to reach the town.
