Alaska Bus Tours to Wrangell/St. Elias National Park - This is a huge territory which is bordered by the Tok-Cutoff Highway on the north side and extends all the way to the coast of Alaska, at the top of the southeastern Alaska Panhandle. These companies provide bus tours to the old mining ghost town of McCarthy, which is on the south side of the Park. Actually the road ends at the Kennecott River which is one mile from McCarthy. You have to cross the river on a foot bridge. But once across the bridge, you can take a shuttle to McCarthy. You can also take a bus tour the additional six miles to the Kennecott Copper Mines and ghost town. These Alaska bus tour services will pick you up from local hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts or RV parks in the towns of Glennallen, Copper Center or Chitina. If you are someplace in between and want to be picked up, they will probably do that, too. Just give them a call! By the way, the McCarthy Road is a REALLY bad road to drive on, so you are better off taking a bus! (It is a one lane dirt road and can have unexpected rocks and holes.) | Name/Operator | Contact Info | Address Info |
